Enhancing ETIM for BIM

ETIM will be expanded with additional parameters for design and calculation purposes

On 29th January, the Dutch MEP sector and industry have come to an agreement to extend the ETIM classification standard with additional parameter that are required by modeling and calculation software. This will make it possible to uniformly exchange product information between different software platforms. The plan fulfills an important prerequisite for integrated collaboration processes, which are an absolute priority for the Dutch installation and construction sector.

Not only will the European Technical Information Model (ETIM) be tailored to be able to carry the required parameters, also experts will work together to define per product category the relevant parameters and create generic object models.
