With our new software version, we have made several procedures even easier, completely revised system processes, and made our popular OPEN BIM tool even clearer. General highlights in DDScad 17
Start Page: Project templates and further additions
Getting started with projects in DDScad 17 is even easier for you now: The newly designed Start Page now features a large project overview, the intelligent search function has been revised, and you can create project templates yourself.
Visualize models more easily
In DDScad 17 we give you new options for visualizing your models and have also improved usability. For example, you can select objects in the 2D view and zoom directly into your preferred render mode, you can now save views, and you can also create sections and part models even more quickly and easily.
Easier import and export
DDScad 17 improves the way you import and export your data. The import dialog of the IFC file manager has been redesigned, you can also determine more precisely which IFC model contents are to be imported, and you get a true-to-scale pdf output with layer structure and text.
- New field “Label”
With the label function you create your own symbol text, and label object types. With the help of tags, you combine different symbol text modules with each other, for example with building number, floor number, room number, and the name of the component. - New field “Name”
The "Name" field is now available directly in the properties window. There you can quickly and easily change the designations, e. g. of components, as well as the descriptions of cables. In addition, the new field allows you to name component types automatically. - Improved synchronisation
Generally, changes are now synchronised even better. For example, if you adjust the floor designation in a model, this is adopted in the other disciplines. Saving you time and effort. - Revised project navigator
In DDScad 17, we have combined the functions of the former project manager in the project navigator. So you now have everything in view in the project. - Arrange windows automatically
If you want to display different views of your model on the desktop at the same time, it’s possible to arrange the programme windows automatically. This gives you a better overview of your building model.
- Property sets
Properties of components can be individually extended and exported in the form of property sets in IFC format to meet individual BIM workflow requirements.

Optimized System Navigator
In DDScad 17 the System Navigator is further developed, making electrical planning even clearer and easier. The cable calculation now uses a new property window, in which all important settings are directly available. You have more options for displaying objects, performing calculations, making reports, and creating labels.
Applying LED strips easier and faster
In DDScad 17 you can place LED strips quickly and easily when planning room lighting. The LED strips can be arranged straight, and curved like cable ducts, the beam direction of the LEDs can be easily changed, and you can generate a parts list.
Building your own schema symbols
In DDScad 17, you create your own component symbols for use in single-line and multi-line circuit diagrams, as well as in distributor documentation. This gives you even more flexibility in your daily planning.
- Flexible pipes and conduits
The radius of bends in flexible pipes is freely adjustable, and conduits can be assigned to cable routes even more easily. - Detailed cable list
From the System Navigator you can now also create a detailed cable list. - Plausibility checks
Incorrect dimensions, invalid distances, and the continuity of cable connections can now also be checked.

System Navigator and new functions
We have now integrated the System Navigator into the Mechanical & Plumbing sector. It offers more uniformity with the properties field, and supplements the previous calculation dialogues.
Calculate heat load even more accurately
In DDScad 17, the heat load calculation is even more user-friendly, and data entry is quicker and more intuitive. When calculating the heat load, you can consider unheated rooms in a better way.
New visualization filters
In DDScad 17 you get new visualization filters in the rendered model for your sanitary, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation planning. Additional states of the systems can now be visualized.
- Multi-Edit
In DDScad 17 you can use the multi-edit function to replace several objects at the same time. For example, radiators, air diffusers, or valves. - Lock partial lines
Partial lines of a system can be locked, which prevents disregarded elements from being changed unintentionally. - Label function
The Mechanical & Plumbing sector now also has a new labelling function. With it, you can easily determine yourself which information is to be displayed on your components. Click on the corresponding component and use your new labelling function directly. Several information blocks in a row are also possible. - Underfloor heating
In underfloor heating the temperature below a heating circuit can be adjusted flexibly in case of complex adjacent situations, which has an influence on the volume flow calculation.
