DDS-CAD BIM Enhancer

DDS-CAD Building - Results in hours rather than days


Sketches can be imported in various formats (DXF, DWG, PDF, JPG, BMP, etc). Rooms, multidisciplinary interior and the complete buildings including, for example, roofs, dormers, solar and photovoltaic equipment can be efficiently planned, modelled and calculated. Practical user examples have proven that simple 2D sketch information – even on paper – can be converted into a complete 3D building model, considerably faster than with a conventional tabular record, thanks to the use of realistic, intelligent and structured data.


The program will not only recognise floor, roof, walls, rooms, windows, doors, recesses, surfaces and volumes, but it is also possible to start comprehensive calculations and simulation at once, resulting in significant time savings. The user can navigate around in the complete building model as if in a computer game, and check, simulate and present the results along the way.


Consequently we consider DDS-CAD to be an “effective marketing tool” in addition to the technical aspects of the software.With help from various additional calculation modules U-Value, energy calculation, energy simulation, heat loads and ventilation can be efficiently calculated with a few mouse clicks. There are also, of course, specialised modules for electrical, heating & plumbing and ventilation available. The results can be simply, comprehensively and graphically simulated and validated, before the actual work starts on site.


Seconds … instead of days


Thanks to a open and intelligent data exchange standard for the entire construction industry, significant innovation is now finally possible in building design. A worldwide multidisciplinary standard covering all building trades, (and soon to be ISO certified) is the buildingSMART and IFC concept. For DDS-CAD users, the value is simply enormous. From certified architectural programs, such as, ArchiCAD®, entire projects can be simply imported, and users will have access to a the complete building model for further planning and calculation. As this is also a bidirectional exchange standard, the projects can be transferred back to the architectural program without any further translation. Therefore the architect can immediately study the newly defined floor and the calculated U-value, heat requirement and ventilation. A click on an air exhaust grille, will immediately display the manufacturer of this component including the calculated data, such as air flow rate and pressure drop.

Value and Efficiency


In typical building projects significant expenditure results from frequent and sometimes extensive change. This can in some cases be responsible for up to 80% of the costs. When the same data must be copied multiple times by all disciplines via 2D sketches, sections, schematics, tables etc., it is understandable that this results in costly errors on-site. The consequences of additional discipline costs, reduction in quality and late completion are enormous.


DDS-CAD is a multidisciplinary database supported 3D planning solution, with integrated and relevant calculation functionality. Moreover, due to its IFC interface, the actual building model is directly at your disposal. In short, DDS-CAD is an intelligent tool, with which the whole design team will achieve reduced errors and risk, as they are always working with the most current data. This means, a clearly optimized planning process, where the building engineering installation will be simulated and validated, before the construction work starts on site.
